Mr. Broughton has been in the educational field since 1992 where he began his career as a high school English and Journalism teacher, as well as the advisor for the Gifted and Talented program, in Stafford County, Virginia. In 2000, he earned a Masters in Education Leadership and Supervision (MEd) from George Mason University and transitioned into the role of high school Assistant Principal. He and his family moved to northern California in July, 2008 where he served as the Student Affairs Director for Natomas Charter School in Sacramento until June 2015, then as the Academies Director for Kairos Public Schools in Vacaville until June, 2022. Additionally, in 2021, he earned an Associate Professional Human Resources certification (aPHR).


Mr. Broughton has also worked for the Sacramento County Office of Education, coaching current administrators fulfilling the requirements to receive a Clear Administrative Services Credential and presenting to teachers in the teacher induction program. Mr. Broughton has also previously served as a volunteer Reviewer for the California Department of Education’s Charter School Division, and has participated in the state committee developing the competencies for high school civic engagement for high school students earning the Seal of Civic Engagement. He has also developed numerous student mentorship and leadership programs for all of the schools he has worked for, and has a passion to ensure students have the tools to be prepared for a future with countless possibilities.


He is excited to be a part of Bella Mente Academies and looks forward to working with Bella Mente faculty, students, and parents in a collaborative environment to ensure all stakeholders reap the rewards of a Montessori education and to support that the entire Bella Mente team in working together for student academic and social-emotional success.
